Ivan Borg Ferrando

Hospitality industry veteran Ivan Borg Ferrando on Saturday shared that he has been elected to the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA) Council.

Mr Borg Ferrando, who is General Manager at St Julian’s-based Hotel Valentina having been appointed earlier this year, said that he is “looking forward to joining the council and continuing to support, improve and strive our tourism sector”.

Prior to his time at Hotel Valentina, he worked as Sales and Operations Manager at The Embassy Valletta Hotel for over three years. Mr Borg Ferrando also spent two years as Managing Consultant at Ivan Borg Ferrando & Associates, a freelance firm he set up which offers consultancy to hospitality and catering establishments to improve their day-to-day operations and personnel training, as well as product development.

Additionally, Mr Borg Ferrando’s experience also includes three years as General Manager of db Catering + Events, and also two years as Assistant General Manager of Events at db Group’s Seabank Resort & Spa, among other positions at various establishments.

The MHRA acts as “the major association” in Malta’s tourism sector, representing the interests of its members on several important national policy-making bodies, including the board of the Malta Tourism Authority and the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development. It is primarily tasked with promoting and safeguarding the tourism sector’s interests, along with those of its members.
