Malta Properties Company plc (MPC) has announced the appointment of GO plc Chief Executive Officer Nikhil Patil and BMIT Technologies plc CEO Christian Sammut as non-executive directors on its Board, effective immediately.

Their appointment follows BMIT Technologies’ recent acquisition of a 49 per cent equity stake in MPC.

The transaction, officially closed on 31st October, sees BMIT – one of Malta’s leading digital infrastructure and IT services providers – gain indirect ownership of several key technology and commercial sites owned and operated by MPC, including data centres, telecom exchanges, and other mission-critical properties leased under long-term agreements.

Christian Sammut

MPC’s newly appointed director Christian Sammut has served as Chief Executive Officer of BMIT Technologies since August 2011, overseeing the company’s evolution from a telecoms unit within GO plc to a publicly listed IT services provider at the forefront of cloud, cyber resilience, and hybrid infrastructure solutions.

Nikhil Patil

GO plc CEO Nikhil Patil, who has been instrumental in driving GO Group’s strategic focus on digitalisation and infrastructure ownership, now assumes a governance role in MPC alongside Mr Sammut. Both leaders are expected to lend their extensive industry experience to support MPC’s plans to develop and manage specialised technology-enabled assets across Malta.

The appointments were made as Huda Buhumaid and Saqib Saeed resigned from their positions as non-executive directors.

BMIT Technologies plc, which specialises in managed IT and mission-critical systems, currently operates certified data centres and a range of technology platforms that serve as the backbone of several key industries in Malta.
