TradeMalta CEO Tania Brown said she has observed a marked increase in British businesses seeking partnerships with Maltese companies.
“The more time goes on, especially as the UK’s political climate changes, we can see many many British businesses forming partnerships with Maltese companies,” Ms Brown told WhosWho.mt.
She said British businesses are attracted by Malta’s access to the EU Single Market, as well as the island’s strategic proximity to Africa.
Besides British partnerships, Ms Brown said that many Maltese businesses are choosing to expand to countries in North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia. Despite the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, many Maltese businesses are choosing to expand in the Gulf.
“It all depends on the types of services and products the Maltese company offers, and whether it matches the demand in the target country,” she said.
Ms Brown said that more and more Maltese businesses are opting to export services, in fields like technology, law and finance, rather than products.
“Many of these new companies actually launch with the immediate intention of expanding overseas.”
Ms Brown spoke out at the launch of the 2027 International Business Awards, which will be held on 5th March to celebrate Maltese businesses that sell their products and services overseas.
He joins the company after his tenure at AIMS International Malta.
