On Wednesday, MeDirect was granted regulatory approval for the appointment of Izabela Banas for the roles of Group Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of the bank.

Ms Banas’ appointment was initially announced on 15th April but became effective on 4th September. She has replaced Radoslaw Ksiezopolski in both positions.

The new CFO and Executive Director is a seasoned financial industry professional, with over 24 years of experience in the area.

This includes having held financial leadership roles at a number of renowned international firms in the financial services industry in the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

She initially started her career at General Electric Company as part of the Financial Management Programme, before serving in a number of other roles in the company, including Senior Financial Planning Analyst – Global. Seven years later she moved to serve in senior roles at Elster Group, Credit Suisse, and Willis.

Furthermore, she spent five years at HSBC, initially as Head of Finance – Group Cost Performance and Global Functions, and then as CFO of Private Bank EMEA.

Later, she joined Bank of Valletta (BOV) as Group CFO, a position she held for three years, up until February. At BOV, she also served as Chair of the Asset and Liability Management Committee and was also a Member of its Executive Committee.

During her tenure at BOV, she was also Director and Audit Committee Member at MAPFRE MSV Life plc.

Ms Banas has a degree in Economics with a specialisation in Finance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
