Mamo TCV Advocates Managing Partners

Joseph Borg Bartolo has been appointed Managing Partner at Mamo TCV Advocates, the Malta-based law firm announced on Monday. The appointment came into effect at the start of the year.

He takes over from Michael Psaila, who led the firm for more than six years, and will now be resuming his full-time position at Mamo TCV’s corporate, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance teams.

Mr Borg Bartolo became an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1992 and graduated with a Doctor of Laws from University of Malta in the following year. Right after graduating, he joined John Mamo & Associates and was a Founding Partner of Mamo TCV Advocates upon the merger of John Mamo & Associates and Tonna Camilleri Vassallo & Co in 2000.

Between 2000 and 2013, he also served as Join Managing Partner at the firm.

The initial appointment was announced during a firm event held over the Christmas period, during which time Dr Borg Bartolo thanked his partners for entrusting him with the honour and responsibility of managing the firm. He also expressed his intention to ensure that the firm “continues to move from strength to strength”.

Dr Borg Bartolo also thanked his predecessor for his dedication and leadership of the firm over a period that resulted in significant growth, despite a number of challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the retirement from the firm of three of its Founding Partners, amongst others. He added that he appreciates the “ever-increasing challenges of running the firm” in the present regulatory, compliance and economic environment, but also expressed confidence in the team of partners, lawyers, and other staff at the firm.

He pointed out that he is sure that through the team, the firm’s ethos of “putting the client’s professional interests above all others” will continue to be evident.

Dr Borg Bartolo has a wide array of commercial clients, and is mostly well known for blending legal knowledge and advice with practical commercial experience and expedience necessary to get a deal done. He is also very experienced in dispute resolution and has acted in a number of instances to resolve issues without the necessity of allowing the matter to be contested in judicial fora.
