Mark Vassallo has been appointed Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Malita Investments with effect from 1st September of this year.

In an official announcement, the company said the appointment follows the Government’s exercise of its right to replace Roderick Psaila. The Government is Malita Investments’ majority shareholder and holds a qualifying holding in the company.

Mr Psaila was appointed Non-Executive Director and Chairman in February this year.

Malita Investments was in the spotlight throughout 2025 over a number of issues.

Among these, former PL MEP Marlene Mizzi claimed that she had been removed as chairperson of the company a year earlier after confronting Housing Minister Roderick Galdes over what she described as his “interference in the workings of a plc”.

The company also saw a number of high-level resignations in 2025. Johan Farrugia resigned as Executive Chairperson, while Victor Carachi and Tania Brown stepped down as directors. Amanda Desira also resigned as Chief Operations Officer. They were subsequently replaced.

In May this year, David Mallia also resigned as a director.

Malita Investments’ operations comprise of the financing, acquisition, development, management and operation of immovable property, with a particular focus on assets of national and strategic importance.

Malita owns the sites of Malta International Airport (MIA) and Valletta Cruise Port (VCP), and holds a temporary emphyteusis over the Parliament Building and Pjazza Teatru Rjal.
