MaritimeMT CEO Pauline Micallef has been awarded the Next Generation Shipping Award at the Malta Maritime Summit.

This recognition reflects a journey driven by her willingness to embrace new challenges, a drive to support people in their professional growth and a continued commitment to making a meaningful difference, MaritimeMT, a maritime training institution offering seafarers and shore based personnel tuition and development, said.

After receiving the award, Ms Micallef said that she joined the maritime industry as an accountant six years ago, “with little idea of how profoundly it would reshape my career. To receive the Next Generation Shipping Award is a privilege, but it also serves as a reminder that meaningful career transitions require both preparation and grit,” the CEO said.

Reflecting on her journey and achieving this award, Pauline Micallef said that numbers tell only half the story. “While balance sheets matter, my work with MaritimeMT proved that the real return on investment lies in people developing new skills and finding their stride.” She said that industry standards rise when you back your peers.

“Setting up the Women's International Shipping and Trading Association Malta chapter alongside nine dedicated maritime professionals confirmed how vital it is that women across shipping are properly represented and supported.”

She said that being acknowledged as part of the next generation in shipping means keeping doors open for the talent that follows next.
