Michael Frendo has retired as Chairman and Director of BNF Bank after 13 years.
A Speaker Emeritus of the House of Representatives, Dr Frendo has been serving as Chairman of the Bank since 2013.
In a bank statement, Dr Frendo thanked all the bank’s management and staff for their unwavering support and dedication over the years.
He pointed out that, under his stewardship, BNF won the Financial Times Group’s The Banker Maltese Bank of the Year for three consecutive years and also established a fully licensed branch in the UK.
He underscored clients’ and bondholders’ faith in the bank and thanked the banking regulator and its various shareholders.
BNF’s board agreed to hold a formal vote of thanks to Dr Frendo to place on record its appreciation for his commitment, professionalism over the years.
A new Chairman will be appointed at the next board meeting.
Sheikh Jassim Feisal Q.F. Al-Thani, Mario Galea, Mohammed Abdelqader Darwish Al-Ramahi, Juanita Bencini, Charles Borg, David Power, and Tarik Mahmut have all been re-appointed as directors.
Shiekh Turki Feisal Q.F. Al - Thani, Sheikh Mohammed Feisal Q.F. Al - Thani, Thani, Hassan Elsayed Hassan Abdalla, and Paul Johnson have not been re-appointed.
Meanwhile, Izzat Nuseibah – a British banking executive who has held senior leadership positions at the likes of BLOM Bank Qatar, Barclays Bank, Credit Suisse, Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank – has been nominated as non-Executive Director.
