‘Our opening scenes looked like the first Rocky film’ – Dennis Mark Gauci on CLA Malta’s success

CLA Malta has been named Growth Firm of the Year across the entire CLA Global network, one of the local firm’s partners, Dennis Mark Gauci, has said.

CLA Malta is a professional services firm which provides audit services, tax advisory, business advisory, and global mobility solutions. It is part of CLA Global, a leading entity in the financial outsourcing and wealth advisory sectors.

Dr Mark Gauci likened his firm’s success to the film Rocky.

“In 1976, Rocky Balboa ran up 72 steps in Philadelphia. Alone. At dawn. Nobody watching. Three years later, in Rocky II, he ran them again. This time, a crowd of kids followed him through the streets and up every single step. Same steps. Same man. A completely different story. That second run is the best picture of growth I know.”

“Our opening scenes at CLA Malta looked a lot like the first film: a small team, a small island, long days and big ambition," he said.

“Then, one by one, people started running with us,” he said. A colleague who joined while the firm was still finding its feet. A client who trusted them with something that mattered. “Then another. And another. Until the streets behind us were full. And now, at the top of the steps: CLA Malta has been named Growth Firm of the Year across the entire CLA Global network.”

This, he said, is where the firm parts ways with the film. In Rocky II, the crowd follows the hero, he said. “At CLA Malta, the crowd is the hero.”

He dedicated the firm’s story to the team and all those who contributed.
