Ramona Cassar Azzopardi / WH Partners

Ramona Cassar Azzopardi, Partner and Head of Tax at Malta-based WH Partners, has been elected to Ally Law’s Executive Board, the former law firm announced on Thursday.

Ally Law is a global network of law firms that is comprised of 80 independent member firms and over 2,300 professionals, operating in 45 countries. WH Partners is the network’s exclusive Malta member.

Dr Cassar Azzopardi, who was also named one of Ally Law’s Vice Presidents, will act as a regional liaison, and will continue to lead the network’s tax committee, while also working closely with other Board Members to advance the organisation’s goals and objectives.

She remarked that she is “very pleased” with her new position, and that it will be a “great opportunity to stimulate further cooperation between Ally Law’s members around the world”.

“I am looking forward to giving it my all,” she added.

She is a leading taxation lawyer in Malta and has an in-depth expertise in both direct and indirect taxation. The World Tax 2022 guide describes her as “highly regarded” and she is ranked by the prestigious Chambers Europe 2023 guide, among other achievements.

Dr Cassar Azzopardi is also Malta’s National Reporter for the International Bar Association’s taxes committee. Additionally, she is a Council Member at the Malta Institute of Taxation, as well as a Member of the Chamber of Advocates and the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners.

She first joined WH Partners in 2014 as a Senior Associate, before she was promoted to her present role in 2018. Prior to that, she worked at Fenech & Fenech Associates for seven years as Associate, with a focus on tax matters related to gaming, aviation, shipping, financial services, and ICT.

She is a Doctor of Laws, having graduated with a dissertation titled “The case for the enactment of a taxpayers’ charter”, and also holds a Master of Arts in Financial Services, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Legal and Humanistic, Law and European Studies, all from University of Malta.
