Albert Bonello has been named Managing Director Finance and Administration at AX Group, it announced on Thursday. The appointment will become effective on 1st February 2023.

Mr Bonello first joined the group in 2007 as Group Financial Controller, and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2017, a position he held up until his latest promotion.

Prior to his time at the group, he was also Credit Reviewer at Bank of Valletta plc for more than eight years. He is a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

The group also announced that Nicky Camilleri has been appointed Chief Operations Officer, with effect from 22nd May 2023. In doing so, he has resigned from his position as Chief Financial Officer at Mizzi Organisation, and his final day of employment will be 15th May 2023.

Mizzi Organisation thanked Mr Camilleri for his “valid contribution” and “unswerving commitment” to the company over the years, while also confirmed that the process of identifying a suitable replacement is underway, with further updates set to be communicated in due course.

He is a vastly experienced professional, having occupied various senior positions within listed entities throughout his career, such as Corinthia Group of Companies, Premier Capital plc, and most recently, Mizzi Organisation. He is a Fellow of the ACCA and the MIA.

Established 44 years ago by Angelo Xuereb to primarily operate within the construction industry, AX Group has since diversified its operations into the development, hospitality, and healthcare industries. The group is owned by the Xuereb family with the second generation being actively involved in the business.
