Anvil Game Studios has been recognised at this year’s Arts Council Malta awards, taking home the title of Best Multidisciplinary Production.

The award acknowledges the extensive creative collaboration required in digital game development – an area Anvil CEO and Game Director Andrew Farrugia says continues to showcase the breadth of Maltese talent.

In a LinkedIn post, Mr Farrugia said the studio was “honoured to bring home the ‘Best Multidisciplinary Production’ award,” noting that the event “brings together Maltese creative talents and strengths, from literature to dance, TV, radio, as well as physical and digital media.”

He remarked that year after year he remains “continuously amazed by the artistic excellence our small nation possesses.”

Digital games, he explained, are complex, multi-year productions that rely on a wide range of creative and technical skills. He highlighted that Anvil Game Studios “has no shortage of bright and brilliant individuals” contributing to the development process on a daily basis.

Mr Farrugia dedicated the award to the entire Anvil team. “This award goes to everyone at Anvil Game Studios – Without you, none of our success would have been possible,” he wrote, describing the studio as his “second family.”

Holdfast, one of Anvil Game Studios’s video games, has has won 17 international awards since its console release earlier this year. It earned 10 awards as the Best Game on both PlayStation and Xbox, along with five awards for outstanding marketing achievements.
