Pitbull concert ‘was a testament to how far our country has come’ – Mark Grech

Last Sunday's Pitbull concert at Ta' Qali attracted around 40,000 attendees, making it the largest concert ever held in Malta and marking another milestone for the country's live events industry.

The concert, which also featured Lil Jon and opening act Owen Leuellen and Jonathan Cilia AKA Supre, was organised by Greatt and NNG, with Greatt being the company behind a growing number of major international performances in Malta, including Ed Sheeran's 2024 concert, which drew 35,000 attendees, as well as shows by Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera and Sam Ryder.

Reflecting on the event, Greatt co-founder Mark Grech tells MaltaCEOs.mt that the concert demonstrated that Malta is capable of hosting world-class artists while delivering large-scale productions to international standards.

Describing the concert as a significant achievement for the country, he says "this concert was a testament to how far our country has come and what Malta can accomplish when that collaboration comes together."

"Pitbull's concert in Malta has once again demonstrated that our country is more than capable of hosting world-class artists and delivering events that attract thousands," he added.

Mr Grech also praised the collaboration across Malta's events sector, noting that more than 1,000 professionals worked on the production over several months, "from stage construction, lighting, sound, special effects, logistics and operations, to the many other roles that often go unnoticed but are essential to making an event of this scale possible."

He also thanked the public entities and organisations that supported the event's planning and execution, including Festivals Malta, Transport Malta, the Malta Police Force, the Civil Protection Department, the Malta Red Cross, St John's Ambulance and the Cleansing Department.

Mr Grech also acknowledged the role played by the team at Ta' Qali National Park, describing the venue as Malta's only location capable of accommodating events of this magnitude while providing the operational support required for large-scale productions.

Looking ahead, Mr Grech hinted that Greatt has no intention of slowing down, adding: "We look forward to what's next. My dream performer in Malta is the next one."
