Her appointment was first announced last September and has been in effect since 20th May 2022, replacing Anna Camilleri who left the position to take up the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Auditor at HSBC Bank Canada.
Ms Carabott is a qualified accountant and auditor, holding an Accountancy Honours Degree and a Bachelor of Commerce.
She is also a Computer Information Systems Auditor and a certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.
She rises to the position after joining the bank as its Deputy Head of Internal Audit in 2018 after previously working as an external auditor at one of the Big Four Accounting Firms and as a Senior Internal Auditor in the Insurance Industry.
Ms Carabott is also a current member of the Malta Bankers Association Executive Committee.
