As CareMalta Group celebrated its 30th anniversary, its former and current CEOs – Natalie Briffa Farrugia and James Sciriha respectively – reflected on the momentous occasion.

An event was held at the Group’s very first care home, Casa Arkati in Mosta, while staff and employees enjoyed an evening of celebration.

CareMalta today has eight homes for the elderly under its care, including Villa Messina, Roseville, Casa San Paolo, Casa Marija, Mellieha Home, Zammit Clapp and Zejtun Home.

The Group is a subsidiary of Vassallo Group, which operates in a diverse range of sectors.

Commenting online after CareMalta’s 30th anniversary celebration, Ms Briffa Farrugia, who formerly held the position of CEO within the company, and today sits as Chairperson of the parent organisation, Vassallo Group, took to social media to express how significant this latest milestone is for the extended CareMalta family:

“Anniversaries come with meaning, and CareMalta’s 30th is a precious celebration for both our group and family. And what better place to hold such a memorable occasion than Casa Arkati, our very first home!

“The beauty of such a celebration is knowing we have made a difference to the lives of many people and their families through care and dignity. The biggest risk we face as a society today is choosing quality of care over quality of life.”

Here, she adds that the “role of the family” is “crucial” to the wellbeing of CareMalta’s residents.

“Let us remember that being away from family and loved ones during the pandemic was tougher than COVID itself!”

She delivered a heartfelt thanks to the Group’s employees for “giving their all” to the company’s residents.

CareMalta Group CEO James Sciriha

“We are all in search of joy in life… the greatest source is service. Let us all continue to be steadfast in our endeavours, passionate about life, no matter what, and have a generous heart.
This will continue to distinguish us as leaders in care.

Similarly, CareMalta CEO James Sciriha also thanked the company’s people, describing the event at Casa Arkati as “the peak” of the 30th anniversary celebrations, which he described as being “full of emotions, compassion, professionalism and joy”.

He recalled encouraging quotes by three residents in three separate CareMalta facilities where they praised the company’s efforts to take care of its elderly residents, saying “these quotes will forever be imprinted in my heart and gives us the strength and energy to keep on working hard for you”.
