Bank of Valletta’s Chief People and Culture Officer Ray Debattista has stepped down from his role, bringing to an end a 42-year career with the bank.

The move was first announced in February as part of a number of changes to BOV's senior leadership team.

Mr Debattista joined BOV in 1984 and has occupied various roles within the organisation, across both the retail network and other corporate functions.

His most recent roles were Head of Human Resources, a position he held between 2015 and 2022, and Chief People and Culture Officer, a position he occupied for the next four years.

In this position, he was responsible for the development and execution of an HR strategy, as well as aspects such as succession planning, talent and change management, and thethe management of healthy working relationships with stakeholder groups representing the bank’s employees.

He is now leaving the bank to become an independent People and Culture Consultant.

“After more than four decades at Bank of Valletta plc, the time has come to close a truly special chapter in my life,” Mr Debattista said.

“I leave BOV with a deep sense of gratitude, above all for the wonderful colleagues I had the privilege of working with, supporting and learning from throughout the years.”

He added that, in his new independent consultant role, he will bring  bringing together his experience, passion for people, and “belief that great organisations are built by creating workplaces where people can grow, feel they belong, and make a positive impact”.

“After all these years, one belief remains stronger than ever, people make the difference,” he said. “Looking back with gratitude, and moving forward with purpose.”
