Colin Calleja on Sunday announced that he has been appointed as Director of Risk at BDO Malta.

Mr Calleja leads the risk advisory and compliance advisory service lines within the professional services firm. He also manages BDO’s internal compliance team ensuring that it implements best practice due diligence and other compliance-related procedures, also making sure that these are in line with the firm’s obligations and requirements.

He is also Whistleblower Reporting Officer at BDO.

Mr Calleja first joined the firm as Manager of Risk Advisory Services in 2020, a position he served in up until his new role.

Prior to that, he worked as Enterprise Risk Manager at Credorax Bank for four years, and previously within the public sector, among other roles at various other organisations.

He is described as passionate about applying enterprise risk management across all areas and also enabling organisations to understand and make the most out of opportunities that emerge in terms of positioning themselves within their respective markets. He is particularly skilled in enterprise risk management, risk management, corporate governance, whistleblower protection, and business continuity management.

He holds a Master's in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business and Computing, both from University of Malta, as well as an International Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management from London’s Institute of Risk Management, which he is also a certified Member of.

Mr Calleja’s appointment as director will enhance BDO’s knowledge and experience, particularly with respect to risk management, corporate governance and business continuity management.

BDO Malta forms part of BDO International, a global professional services and business advisory firm. Its international organisation extends across 164 countries and territories, with more than 95,000 people working from over 1,700 offices. The Malta office was established in 1978 and is focused on fully servicing foreign and local clients with “all their financial services needs”.
