Michelle Fenech Seguna, Director of Human Resources (HR) at The Westin Dragonara Resort, is calling time on her career at the St Julian’s hotel after over 20 years.

She made the announcement on Wednesday, stating that after an “incredible rollercoaster journey” at the hotel, it is time for her to “push the boundaries” and step out of her comfort zone, pursuing her “new calling.”

Ms Fenech Seguna has decided to take the leap and dedicate her energy fully towards growing Speak to Move, her own professional training and corporate coaching firm, which focuses on the areas of communication, performance, and leadership.

“While transitioning careers can be daunting, it’s also an opportunity for growth and exploration. And even though it’s more of a side-pivot for me rather than a complete shift, I’m still navigating the process of change,” she continued.

She admitted that parting ways The Westin Dragonara Resort, a place she called her “second home for many years” was “emotionally challenging.”

Ms Fenech Seguna had joined the hotel in 2003 as Recruitment and Administration Officer, before she was appointed Training Manager just three years later.

In 2008, she was named Director of HR at the hotel, and became responsible for the short and long-term planning and direction of the HR function, as well as providing overall leadership and direction the HR team, among other responsibilities.

“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a superior who has believed in me wholeheartedly and trusted me completely. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with amazing peers, dedicated HR colleagues, and hardworking associates who have created a truly magical atmosphere,” she said, reflecting on her career at the hotel.

Ms Fenech Seguna added that over the years, the team has fostered a “culture of caring that extends far beyond the workplace” and has also celebrated a number of achievements along the way.

She proceeded to encourage those individuals interested to apply for the post as Director of HR, noting that it is of particular interest to those who are “seeking an environment where humanity and employee development are at the forefront, where teamwork and celebration go hand in hand.”

Aside from her time at The Westin Dragonara Resort and Speak to Move, Ms Fenech Seguna was also Vice President of the Foundation for Human Resources Development (FHRD) for four years, and was thus involved in the strategic advancement of the HR profession on a national level. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Sociology from University of Malta, as well as a Masters in Human Resources and Training from University of Leicester, among other qualifications.
