Malta has a good environment to ‘continue growing’ iGaming operations – Eeze Group Director

Kurt Vella, Legal and Compliance Director at Eeze Group, has affirmed that the iGaming company has found Malta to be a country with a good environment to ‘continue growing’ its operations.

His comments came during a visit from Minister for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri. Based in Malta, Eeze Group is an international B2B solutions provider that focuses on live casino. It has been operating from Malta for the past nine years, and recently announced that it would be continuing to invest and expanding its operations in the country.

“Over the past year and a half, we have continued to expand our operations, and have employed around 400 people in Malta, most of these workers being Maltese,” Dr Vella said.

He added that the company has grown and opened more live casino tables, with the plan being to “continue growing in the coming months, with this leading to further employment.”

“We have found Malta to be a country with a good environment to continue growing operations within this sector,” Dr Vella stated.

On his part, Minister Schembri remarked that this is the second iGaming company to announce that it will be expanding its operations and increasing the number of workers. “This is a clear showcase of the trust this industry has in our country and it is also a way in which we are continuing to provide jobs of the highest level for our youths,” he added.

Minister Schembri also visited Next.io, an iGaming summit that is taking place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC), attended by around 5,000 people. He remarked that this initiative is a “clear sign that Malta is considered a strategic location for this industry.”

Glenn Debattista, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Revpanda, last month said that in Malta, there are approximately 12,000 people employed within the iGaming sector, equivalent to 5.3 per cent of the country's total workforce. He stated that the industry is largely beneficial to Malta, yet the country’s economy should also not be “too over-reliant on one specific industry.” This is due to fluctuations in the global iGaming market, regulatory changes, as well as other factors.
