Moneybase has announced the appointment of Ranjit Gokarn to its Board of Directors.

Mr Gokarn brings nearly 34 years of experience in the financial services sector, including 32 years with the HSBC Group as an International Manager.

Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions across multiple regions, serving as Chief Operating Officer and Director of HSBC Malta plc, Chief Control Officer at HSBC UK, Chief Risk Officer for HSBC in both Singapore and India, and Chief Operating Officer at HSBC Turkey.

A specialist in governance, risk management, and large-scale transformation, Mr Gokarn has worked across a diverse range of geographies, including India, Singapore, Japan, the UAE, Turkey, Mauritius, the UK, France, and Malta.

Moneybase CEO and Founder Alan Cuschieri described the appointment as a major step in the company’s ongoing growth and commitment to excellence.

“He has extensive experience in emerging markets, including India, the UAE, Turkey, and Mauritius, and developed markets such as the UK, France, Japan & Singapore, and will be able to add significant value to several elements of the strategy to deliver Moneybase’s vision of innovation and expansion of its services in the financial sector. We are excited to leverage his capabilities as we strengthen our position in the market and drive our commitment to excellence,” Mr Cuschieri said.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Gokarn said he is pleased to be joining the board.

“I am delighted to join the Moneybase board and look forward to contributing to the growth of the business and its strategic imperative of transforming the financial experience for clients, while focusing on increasing the expertise and capabilities of our Risk function,” he said.

Mr Cuschieri noted that Mr Gokarn’s perspective will help the company “scale sustainably while we continue to innovate for our clients in Malta and across Europe.”

The appointment follows that of Mark Watkinson in June, another former HSBC senior executive with almost 40 years of experience in financial services, including his tenure as CEO and Director of HSBC Malta Ltd between 2011 and 2015.
