IDC Malta, the IFSP’s Directors Chapter, has announced the launch of its Boardroom Excellence Workshop Series 2026, a five-part programme aimed at enhancing governance capability and boardroom performance at a time when regulatory and strategic expectations on directors continue to grow.

The initiative, which will run between March and July 2026, is designed for both current and aspiring directors as well as senior executives seeking to deepen their understanding of board responsibilities and strengthen decision-making at leadership level. According to IDC Malta, the workshops will focus on practical learning through case studies and boardroom simulations, combining theory with real-world scenarios.

IDC Malta is recognised as the local voice for directors and is a full member of ecoDa – the European Confederation of Directors Associations. The organisation promotes European best practice in corporate governance and ethical leadership and is supported by the Malta Financial Services Authority.

The Boardroom Excellence Workshop Series will cover five core areas considered critical for modern boards:

  • Foundations of corporate governance and board dynamics
  • Board communication and high-performance boardrooms
  • Finance, reporting and accountability for directors
  • Strategy and value creation
  • Digital governance, including AI, cybersecurity and DORA oversight

Each session will be hosted at prominent national institutions and strategic partners, including the Malta Financial Services Authority, the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, the University of Malta and Bank of Valletta.

The workshops are scheduled across five dates:

  • 23rd March 2026 – Malta Financial Services Authority
  • 5th May 2026 – Malta Chamber of Commerce
  • 2nd June 2026 – University of Malta
  • 1st July 2026 – Bank of Valletta
  • 16th July 2026 – Malta Financial Services Authority

Sessions will follow a full-day format, beginning with registration in the morning and combining theory-led discussions with practical exercises and case study work.

The launch comes amid growing emphasis on board effectiveness, regulatory oversight and digital risk management, particularly as directors face increasing expectations around accountability, strategy and technological governance.

IDC Malta said the programme is intended to help directors build the competencies needed to navigate evolving business challenges while supporting sustainable value creation across organisations.
