Herald Bonnici, a prominent figure in Malta’s business landscape and a seasoned Non-Executive Director, recently shared his insights on leadership and personal growth as the year comes to an end.

With an extensive background including roles such as Head of Operations at Von der Heyden Group, former CEO of Malta Government Investments and Secretary General of PEVCA Malta, Mr Bonnici’s reflections carry weight across private capital, sovereign wealth, energy and technology sectors.

In a recent LinkedIn post, Mr Bonnici opened by saying, “This year demanded patience, self-awareness, and the discipline to slow down and listen.” He noted how the fast pace of business can sometimes overshadow the quieter, but equally important, aspects of leadership.

“Leadership, I was reminded, is often tested not in moments of visibility, but in consistency, resilience, and perseverance when outcomes are uncertain,” Mr Bonnici wrote. His message highlights the reality that true leadership is by the steady resolve to stay committed even when results are unclear.

Mr Bonnici also emphasised the need for clarity in leadership: “focus and clear end objectives are essential when mapping a way forward.” This clarity, he said, helps guide decisions and maintain momentum amid uncertainty.

Reflecting on the role of collaboration, he expressed gratitude for those who influenced his journey: “I’m grateful for the people who challenged my perspective, held me accountable, believed in the vision, and offered support when it mattered most. Those conversations and relationships shaped decisions more than they may realise.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Mr Bonnici shared a renewed sense of purpose: “I’m entering the new year with greater clarity, conviction, and a renewed respect for the unseen work that real growth requires.” He concluded with a commitment to continual improvement: “Still learning. Still building. And committed to leading with intention.”

Mr Bonnici’s reflections offer a timely reminder for Malta’s business leaders to embrace patience, resilience and intentionality as they navigate an ever-evolving landscape.
