Malta International Airport plc reached a historic milestone in 2025, welcoming 10 million passengers in a single year – a first for the national airport and a clear signal of the islands’ growing connectivity and tourism strength.
Marking the occasion, Malta International Airport CEO Alan Borg described the achievement as “a powerful reminder of the progress we continue to make, and the role our airport plays in supporting Malta’s connectivity and tourism.”
The milestone was commemorated alongside Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg, and representatives from the Malta Tourism Authority, including Chairman Charles Mangion and CEO Carlo Micallef, underscoring what Mr Borg referred to as “the strong partnerships that underpin our success.”
While the figures point to a record-breaking year, Mr Borg stressed that the achievement is ultimately a human one. “Above all, this achievement belongs to our teams,” he said. “Their commitment, professionalism, and collaboration drive our operations every day and make milestones like this possible.”
Mr Borg thanked all those involved in delivering a standout year for the airport and the country: “Thank you to everyone who contributed to making 2025 such a remarkable year.”
The 10 million passenger milestone positions Malta International Airport among a select group of European airports of similar scale, reinforcing its strategic importance to Malta’s economy and long-term tourism ambitions.
