Malta is set to host its fourth annual Startup Festival showcasing the island’s startup ecosystem. Organised by Malta Enterprise, this year’s event has also joined forces with TechXpo coordinated by the Ministry for Economy.

TechXpo will be a dedicated space for immersive experiences from the technology and industrial spheres, as part of a three-day celebration of innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement spanning from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th October.

Startup Festival Malta 2024

This year’s edition will be drawing over 2,500 registered attendees, attracting investors, entrepreneurs, and innovators from around the globe.

Since its inception, the Startup Festival has aimed to foster collaboration and support for Malta’s dynamic startup ecosystem.

By providing networking opportunities, workshops, investor matchmaking, financing, and insights into emerging technologies and trends, the event plays a critical role in equipping founders with the required skill set and network.

The festival, reiterating Malta’s efforts in positioning itself as a hub for startups and scaleups in the Mediterranean region, celebrates businesses coming together under one roof where ‘talent meets talent’.

It is also an opportunity for Malta Enterprise to communicate new initiatives or policy drives to address weaknesses or challenges in the ecosystem.

This festival is one of the initiatives undertaken by Malta Enterprise to support its startup ecosystem. Another initiative with the intention of helping startups includes StartinMalta, an initiative that provides seed funding and long-term financing for high-performing startups/scaleups.

Malta’s unique offering as a European jurisdiction with a vibrant Mediterranean lifestyle, combined with dedicated resources for startups, makes it an increasingly attractive destination for entrepreneurs from diverse sectors, including AI, FinTech, MedTech, EdTech, blockchain, immersive tech, digital games development and more.

New policies and tools to be announced

This year’s festival also aligns with Malta’s strategic objective to benchmark its startup ecosystem on a global scale. In partnership with Startup Genome, Malta will be featured in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) as from next year.

Other expected announcements are linked to year-round investor matchmaking and efforts to widen the pool of entrepreneurs and incentivising long-term employment with startups.

As the event approaches, Malta Enterprise and its partners expressed their excitement in welcoming local and international participants from all corners of the globe to experience firsthand the potential of Malta’s startup ecosystem. Startup Festival Malta is supported by Residency Malta Agency, Malta VC, Moneybase, Supercharger Ventures, Melita, Projects Malta, EY u National Skills Council.
