Maria Schembri on Tuesday shared that she has been appointed Group Chief Financial Officer at Malta-based hospitality group The Neu Collective.

Prior to her new role, she served as Group Financial Controller at turnkey contractor CE Installations Ltd for eight months. She also worked at Bay Street Group for two years, initially as Group Financial Controller, and then as Chief Financial Officer.

Over the course of her career, she has primarily gained valuable experience working in the hospitality sector, particularly within the finance departments of various hotels. This includes three months as Director of Finance at Corinthia Palace Malta and over nine years at Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay, during which time she served as Financial Controller and Director of Finance, among other roles. She also worked as Income Auditor at The Westin Dragonara Resort, Grand Hotel Excelsior Malta, and Hilton Malta.

Her experience also includes two years as External Auditor at accounting firm HLB Malta.

She holds a master’s degree in Accounting from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and throughout her career has become particularly skilled in internal controls and budgeting, among other qualities.

The Neu Collective is a group of hotels, restaurants, and cafés, located in Gżira, St Julian’s, and Valletta, that has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. These include The Cumberland Hotel in Valletta, 115 The Strand Hotel and Urban Rooms, both in Gżira, and the Grana restaurant brand, along with others.
