Cluster Director of Revenue Ruth Azzopardi on Saturday announced her departure from IHG Hotels & Resorts after almost two years at the hospitality company.

“It has been a remarkable journey and I believe that I grew a lot more professionally due to the exposure to which I have been entrusted with,” Ms Azzopardi stated.

“Knowing a lot of beautiful and passionate people makes me leave with mixed and bittersweet feelings,” she continued.

She remarked that while 2021 and 2022 proved to be “very challenging years” for the hospitality industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent road to recovery, Ms Azzopardi is “proud” that at IHG Hotels & Resorts she was part of “some remarkable achievements”.

She proceeded to thank the staff at IHG Hotels & Resorts and the Owners who “supported” her, particularly her team which she “adores”.

While Ms Azzopardi did not reveal what her new venture will be, she said that she is “excited” and “looking forward” to it.

Apart from her time at IHG Hotels & Resorts, Ms Azzopardi also gained valuable hospitality experience from a number of other companies throughout her career. This includes 11 years at Hilton Malta, where she served as Revenue Development Manager and Revenue Manager. She also worked as Revenue & e-Commerce Manager at Preferred Hotels & Resorts, and also Yield Manager at Kempinski Hotels.

She is currently reading for a Master’s degree in Management from IDEA Group and holds a Diploma in Digital Marketing from ICE Malta, as well as a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Tourism Studies.

IHG Hotels & Resorts is a UK-based multinational hospitality company that has a portfolio of 18 brands across more than 100 countries. It has over 6,000 open hotels with a further 1,800 in the development pipeline.
