Corinthia Group has opened its first hotel in Rome, marking the brand’s debut in the Italian capital with a new property on Piazza del Parlamento.
“The opening of the Corinthia in Rome is another milestone for our group,” said Simon Naudi, CEO of Corinthia Group, as the company opened its first hotel in the Italian capital this March.
“With a 60-year tradition of hospitality, we continue to expand in major cities and resorts worldwide, with more developments planned in Italy and beyond,” he added.
The new Corinthia Rome is located on Piazza del Parlamento in the Campo Marzio district, a short walk from landmarks such as the Pantheon, the Roman Forum and the Spanish Steps. The property occupies a restored neoclassical building that once served as the headquarters of the Bank of Italy.
“Corinthia Rome was created to be experienced,” said managing director Danilo Zucchetti. “We invite visitors to rediscover this building and to connect with Rome and its people.”
The 9,700-square-metre hotel has 60 rooms, including 21 suites, and is Corinthia’s first property in the city. The building was originally designed by architects Pio Piacentini and Marcello Piacentini and constructed between 1913 and 1921.
The restoration aimed to retain the building’s historic features while adapting it for hospitality use. Original details such as frescoes, stucco work, marble surfaces and decorative ceilings have been preserved or restored.
One of the most notable spaces is the former council chamber overlooking Palazzo Montecitorio. It has been converted into the Theodoli Heritage Suite and retains frescoes by Giulio Bargellini and a ceiling painting by Guglielmo Janni depicting the history of Italian currency.
The hotel’s food and beverage offering is led by Italian chef Carlo Cracco, marking his first restaurant presence in Rome. Dining venues include Viride, which focuses on seasonal Italian cuisine, Piazzetta, and the Ocra Bar.
The property also includes a spa located in the building’s former vault, inspired by Roman bathing traditions, with treatments developed in partnership with skincare brands Seed to Skin and 111Skin.
The hotel is owned by Reuben Brothers and operated by Corinthia Hotels. It is the group’s latest addition to a portfolio that includes properties in cities such as London, New York City, Budapest and Lisbon.
