Db Group CEO Robert Debono described Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) as the next strategic step in the Group’s international growth as its  London-based family office expanded to the UAE’s northernmost emirate.

“RAK’s clarity of vision, openness to long-term investment and ambition to develop high-quality tourism and lifestyle destinations make it a natural partner for projects such as the Hard Rock Hotel & Residences,” Mr Debono said.

His comments come as db Group’s family office SDH Capital announced the opening of a new office in RAK, where the DB Group plans to develop a mixed-use project along with the Sovereign Wealth Fund of RAK.

The project will be built at Marjan beach, adjacent to Al Marjan Island, and consists of a five-star Hard Rock hotel and branded residences together with several restaurants and beach clubs. It is slated to open in 2028.

Established in London’s Mayfair in 2023, SDH Capital was set up to identify international business opportunities and oversee the db Group’s overseas interests.

The new UAE office will act as a strategic base for the group’s activities in the Middle East, supporting investment structuring, partnerships and hospitality and real estate projects.

“Establishing a presence in the UAE is a natural progression for SDH Capital,” SDH Capital Managing Director Nicholas Portelli said.

“Our role is to spearhead the Group’s international ambitions while building long-term partnerships like that with the Investment & Development Office in RAK, in markets that share a clear vision for sustainable growth.”
