Shireburn Software has appointed Adrienne McCarthy as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2026, as the company prepares for its next stage of growth and innovation.
Ms McCarthy joins Shireburn from KPMG Islands Group, where she served as Regional Director of People. Based in Malta for over a decade, she holds qualifications that span computer programming, HR and organisational psychology – a mix that aligns closely with Shireburn’s focus on both software excellence and human-centred leadership.
She will lead Shireburn through the launch of its new cloud-based financial platform, Indigo Business, and guide the company’s response to upcoming regulatory changes such as the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
Ms McCarthy’s background in integrating transformative technologies into international business environments positions her to build on Shireburn’s work in payroll and HR solutions.
“I’m honoured to lead Shireburn at such an exciting moment in its journey,” she said.
“Shireburn has always stood for trust, innovation, and human connection. These are values I’m personally deeply aligned with. I look forward to building on that legacy and leading Shireburn into its next era of growth.”
Outgoing CEO Yasmin de Giorgio will join the company’s board of Directors after a four-year tenure that saw Shireburn strengthen its people-first culture and expand its product suite.
Under her leadership, the company launched initiatives such as the HR Suite and the Shireburn Academy, and advanced development of Indigo Business, which McCarthy will now bring to market.
Shireburn was founded in 1983 by Ms de Giorgio’s father, John de Giorgio. She is also well known as the Founder and Managing Director of Sanya Eco Spa, a holistic wellness hub.
