Andaria Financial Services Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) on Thursday emphasised that the best means to have a say in the future is to actively work on shaping it and to act on one’s decisions.

He discussed this on social media as he celebrated the one-year anniversary since he joined Andaria, a company which he has “learnt a lot” from.

Mr Abela first joined Andaria as Head of Commerical, yet just nine months into the role, he was promoted to CRO, and has been entrusted with the position ever since.

Over that time, he realised that he is working in the “business of predictions”, as he has to predict what service clients would want and how much they would be willing to pay for it. This is also the case because he has to predict the “evolution of the markets” Andaria operates in, what competitors will do, and the numbers that “make sense” for the business, among other things.

“It’s a finger-in-the-air approach most of time, sometimes the middle one, coupled with some experience along the way,” Mr Abela explained.

Since then, he has learnt that the “real answer” to all of his predictions is “to do”.

“The most effective way to influence the future is by taking steps to shape it,” Mr Abela said.

He expressed gratitude for all the people around him who “every day actively do and take charge of the future” of Andaria by doing so.

“We’re shaping the future of embedded payments by doing,” he concluded.

Mr Abela is a specialist in payments, and has various years of experience in commercial operations and client experience, having served in a number of senior roles in the two areas. He holds a Master of Science in Business Innovation and eBusiness from Birkbeck, University of London, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Public Policy from University of Malta.
