Curt Ebejer

Back in June, young entrepreneur Curt Ebejer launched xjismu – a purely Maltese social media platform seeking to facilitate community building and boundless discussion.

“We felt the need to provide a space for people to discuss and exchange ideas,” Mr Ebejer tells MaltaCEOs.mt, explaining the platform’s raison d’etre.

“By providing a tailored platform, we’re encouraging people to spark discussions about topics they’re passionate about, rather than simply consuming news being fed by main media channels,” he continues.

A month after the platform’s launch, we catch up with Mr Ebejer to get a behind-the-scenes look at xjismu’s operations.

“Apart from the technical side of maintaining the platform and the app itself,” Mr Ebejer says, “we always keep an ear to the ground to gauge what people want and how we can make our product better.”

“We need to make sure that the new features we’re implementing make the platform more usable and likeable,” he continues.

It won’t take more than a quick look and a couple of taps to take in xjismu’s sleek UI and UX, however the xjismu team has now encountered a defining challenge.

“Our biggest challenge is getting people on board and gaining traction, what with our limited resources,” Mr Ebejer says.

Despite this, however, xjismu has still managed to nurture interesting and seriously educational discussion.

“I would say the most discussed topic was the FATF’s decision to greylist Malta,” Mr Ebejer recalls. “I was glad that some people resorted to xjismu to voice their concerns and that many others participated respectfully.”

Encouraged by the real and honest discussions on the platform, Mr Ebejer has big plans for this up-and-coming platform. “We want xjismuto be a household name, a go-to place for anyone to discuss and converge,” he says. “We want xjismu to be a place where bright ideas and solutions to our every problems are born.”

And with Ebejer’s unwavering spirit, it will come as no surprise to us if these dreams are achieved. “Don’t be afraid to go for something that you believe in. Fear of the unknown exists in everyone, but the unknown is the only place that we grow,” he says, advising young entrepreneurs. “Live a life without regret, and when you try, try your best.”
