MaritimeMT CEO Pauline Micallef has highlighted that Malta’s yachting community has now reached a “pivotal moment”, and organisations such as Yachting Malta serve as “key players” in overseeing this.
Her comments come after Yachting Malta made its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival earlier this month, an event which welcomed around 50,000 visitors and 610 exhibitors. The organisation’s stand was located at the Palais des Festivals, and also included representatives from Malta Tourism Authority, Malta Ship Registry, and the Super Yacht Industry Network.
Ms Micallef noted that organising the stand proved to be an “important initiative bringing together Maltese yachting stakeholders to promote their services in Malta”.
“As the leading maritime school in Malta, MaritimeMT greatly values Yachting Malta’s support, which is integral to the future of yachting,” she added.
Ms Micallef has served as CEO of maritime training institution MaritimeMT since 2021, having initially spent six months as Financial Controller. In her present role, she oversees the institution’s overall strategy, manages its employees, and ensures compliance to regulatory frameworks.
She said that given Malta is “such a small gem in the middle of the Mediterranean”, Yachting Malta is “actively fostering collaborations that enhance the experience for customers who choose the Maltese Islands for their study, berthing, wintering, servicing, or leisure”.
Through its presence at the festival, Yachting Malta sought to reinforce Malta’s reputation as an “all-year round destination for yachting events”, while also showcasing its ship registry, deemed one of the highly respected registries in the world.
Presently, Ms Micallef is at the Monaco Yacht Show, where she has had the opportunity to meet industry leaders and influential individuals. Together with a team from MaritimeMT, a partnership with Italy’s Gente di Mare was also launched at the event, through which MaritimeMT will now be able to operate from Italy, an achievement she described as a “major milestone”.
