Director and Shareholder of Vassallo Group, Ruben Vassallo, has joined a group of four kayakers on a journey to Sicily to raise awareness against obesity.
Mr Vassallo and his teammates Karen Amato, Daniel Seguna and David Abela embarked on the challenge at 4:30am this morning, after “months of hard training, sacrifices, and dedication,” the company wrote on Facebook.
“The wind is in their favour, they’re moving at a great speed, and are close to reaching the half way mark. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on their incredible journey,” the post concluded.
Vassallo Group stands at the forefront of several different sectors in the local market. These include property and construction, furniture and interiors, elderly and disability, catering, hospitality, architecture and education.
Earlier this month, local long-distance swimmer Neil Agius completed a similar feat, swimming a record-breaking 130 kilometres from Linosa, Italy to Malta to raise awareness of plastic waste in the sea.
