Ivo Camilleri

After 39 years at Bank of Valletta, Chief Strategy, Transformation and Data Officer Ivo Camilleri has closed his chapter with BOV.

In a reflective message, Mr Camilleri – who has been working with BOV since 1987 – thanked all the people he worked with throughout the years, including his mentors, colleagues, partners and suppliers.

In a particularly powerful message to his colleagues and teams in technology, strategy, payments, cards, digital channels and data, he said it was a privilege to work alongside them.

“I know I set high standards. I know that was not always comfortable. But you met those standards, and then you raised them,” he said.

“You turned ambitious ideas into operational reality. You solved problems that others had written off. You built things that lasted.”

“I did not do that. We did. And the fact that so many of you went on to lead, to grow, to achieve things far beyond what we worked on together is, honestly, the accomplishment I value most.”

Mr Camilleri said he spent his career “at the edge where transformation and reform happen, designing strategy that survives contact with reality” and bringing innovation into heavily regulated environments.

As he now takes on an independent advisory position, he said he is deeply involved in understanding what AI truly means for business.

“Not the hype. The substance. How we use it responsibly, how it augments human judgment, and how we govern it well enough to trust it. This is where I believe the most important work of the coming years will be done,” he said.
