A new collaboration between the Malta College of Art, Science, and Technology (MCAST) and Vibe FM will see the latter act as the College’s official radio station.

The announcement was made yesterday by Vibe FM hosts Abel, JD, and Martina at the MCAST Campus in Paola as students and staff members celebrated the start of a new academic year.

“Establishing strong links with over 1,830 industry partners is one of our College’s key strengths,” MCAST Principal and CEO Joachim James Calleja said.

“These collaborations have a major influence on our courses as we ensure that our students are equipped with the relevant knowledge, skills, and competences which will lead them to successful careers,” Prof Calleja said.

MCAST and Vibe FM’s collaboration will enable the College’s students to benefit from hands-on experience via company internships.

“Having been in the very first student intake of MCAST back in 2001, this collaboration is exciting for me on a number of levels,” Vibe FM Station Manager Frank Zammit said.

“We hope to continue to inspire future generations to aim high and continue to do better. As Vibe FM we understand the value of being able to use this partnership to engage with the student population of MCAST,” Mr Zammit continued.

This year’s student population at MCAST is reported to exceed 7,000.

“We are delighted to establish links with Vibe FM, and this is an excellent opportunity for students to learn alongside media professionals. We will also encourage them to produce and host their original content,” Prof Calleja concluded.
