Apex Group Fund Services (Malta) Limited has appointed Catherine Psaila as its new Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), strengthening its leadership team responsible for anti-money laundering and financial crime compliance.
Announcing the appointment, Ms Psaila said she looks forward to the new challenge while continuing to support the organisation in strengthening its AML/CFT framework, promoting a strong compliance culture and navigating an increasingly digital regulatory environment.
In her new role, she will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation and continuous enhancement of the company’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls. She will also act as the principal point of contact with the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) and other regulatory authorities on AML/CFT matters.
Ms Psaila brings nearly two decades of experience across compliance, risk management, governance and financial services. She has served as Compliance Manager and authorised MLRO at European Depositary Bank’s Malta branch since 2023, where she has overseen compliance controls, regulatory reporting and AML risk management.
Prior to that, she spent more than 13 years within HSBC’s Malta operations, holding senior roles including Senior Risk Manager, Business Transformation and Regulatory Change Manager, Governance Manager and Transfer Agency Manager.
Her experience spans risk management, regulatory change, corporate governance, financial crime prevention and fund administration, having worked extensively with evolving European regulatory frameworks including MiFID II, EMIR, GDPR and AML requirements.
Ms Psaila recently completed a Cryptoasset Anti-Financial Crime Specialist qualification through ACAMS, which suggests a growing focus on financial crime risks linked to digital assets and emerging technologies.
