CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority Carlo Micallef has highlighted to need to improve on delivering a quality product for tourists.
Responding to a question by this newsroom as to what he believes needs to be done to continue pushing to attract more quality tourists, he mentioned the success of the sector, the success that brought the number of tourists and their expenditure into the economy, and the contribution of tourism to the country.
"We need to continue refining the way we target the right audience of tourist, we want to continue improving seasonality, having tourists all year round so that its a profitable industry all year round, and we improve our product."
"Attracting quality is one thing, delivering quality is another challenge that we need to improve on," he said.
He highlighted the need to improve the overall management of tourism zones, and the need to work together to create a cleaner environment. He also spoke of the need for better management of tourism flows, better management of traffic flows and better management of public places, cleanliness.
"All of us need to accept responsibility, not only the entities, but also the general public. We need to work together with the industry to deliver what we promise and deliver what we expect from others. We cannot just point fingers at anyone without us doing what we need to do," he said.
