A view across the harbour under floodlit bastion walls, beside an infinity pool, with live acoustic music and the aroma of chef-cooked meats carried on the summer breeze: there are few settings in Malta that match that of BBQ Under the Stars at Bastion Pool, Bar & Restaurant.

Held every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 10pm throughout summer, BBQ Under the Stars serves a four-course Mediterranean grill, reimagined with five-star flair for just €65 per person.

Chefs work over open flames to create starters such as sepia-cured swordfish carpaccio and mains including Ostra Bora N.3 oysters from the Veneto region and butcher’s choice meats cooked in various methods. While guests can also add a selection of salads to their earlier plates, leaving room for dessert is recommended – crushed kannol, chef-made sorbet or vanilla and lemongrass crème brûlée lead the sweets menu.

Live music accompanies each evening of BBQ Under the Stars, with acoustic sets with Amelia playing on Tuesdays and Steve Galea on guitar on Thursdays.

As The Phoenicia Malta’s outdoor culinary destination in its seven-acre gardens, Bastion Pool, Bar & Restaurant offers Malta’s business community a fresh option for the evenings that fall outside the working week’s routine. The format fits all occasions, from a client dinner in an impressive setting to a team reward for the group that closed the quarter, a summer networking evening to a milestone worth marking.

Bastion Pool, Bar & Restaurant also serves an à la carte menu on Wednesday evenings with Dominic Galea’s Jazz Quartet as backdrop. Daytime through the week the à la carte menu continues – ideal for lunches and meetings in an unusual venue, just a short stroll from Valletta.
