Maltese national Chantelle Mifsud is spearheading J’Oli’s first international franchise in Paphos, and she already has her sights set on expanding the local salad bar concept across Cyprus.
“We’re already looking at other locations, with Limassol next up,” Ms Mifsud tells MaltaCEOs. “I think we could even open it sooner than expected.”
Ms Mifsud has been living in Cyprus for around nine years and is the Partner of real estate firm Euphestia, where she assists Maltese nationals looking to purchase property in the country.
She says the decision to bring J’Oli to Cyprus with her partner, Vasko, had been building up for some time.
“J’Oli’s owners are friends of mine and I helped them open up a shop in Valletta in the past,” she recalls.
“I love the brand, I know how high-quality their food is. One thing led to another, and we ended up going on an adventure before opening up in the centre of Paphos.”
She said that her real estate network, combined with her partner’s catering experience, facilitated the process.
Ms Mifsud said the Paphos outlet has received a very positive response since opening last week, including from Maltese expats.
“It’s a Maltese brand, and you feel a sense of pride seeing it here.”
And with new outlets in Limassol and elsewhere envisaged, it looks like J’Oli’s Cypriot chapter is only just beginning.
J’Oli was founded in 2013 by Oliver Borg and Jean Paul Cascun and currently has four local outlets – in St Julian’s, Msida, Marsa, and Mosta.
In 2024, the owners confirmed they plan to expand both nationally and internationally within the next five to ten years.
“Franchising will be a big part of this growth, allowing us to scale while maintaining the core principles that have made us successful,” they said.
