As the year draws to a close, economist JP Fabri has shared his December reading list, which he describes as offering “profound insights into meditation, mindfulness, resilience, and daring to live with vision and purpose.”

Mr Fabri’s reading journey this month included works by some of the most influential voices in mindfulness and personal development.

Among them were The Miracle of Mindfulness and Fear by Thich Nhat Hanh. Reflecting on these, he highlighted the “timeless wisdom on mindfulness” that they offered, along with Daniel Goleman’s The Science of Meditation, which underscored “the transformative power of presence.”

These books, Mr Fabri explained, encourage readers to slow down, reflect, and find clarity within themselves– a vital practice in today’s fast-paced world.

For practical strategies to navigate the stress of modern life, Mr Fabri turned to Mo Gawdat’s Unstressable. The book provided actionable insights into maintaining resilience in the face of life’s pressures.

Meanwhile, Vishen Lakhiani’s The Code of the Extraordinary Mind and The Buddha and the Badass challenged him to think beyond conventional norms. These books pushed him “to think bigger, live boldly, and embrace unconventional paths to fulfilment,” he shared.

Another standout from his reading list was Simon Boas’s A Beginner’s Guide to Dying. For Mr Fabri, this book offered a poignant reminder to live intentionally. Its themes resonated deeply, reinforcing the importance of living with purpose and cherishing each moment.

Summing up his reflections, Mr Fabri noted a common thread running through all his December reads: “The need to look inward, challenge the norm, and live with purpose.”

As he prepares to step into the new year, he carries these lessons with “gratitude and resolve.”
