OZO Group CEO Fabio Muscat on Wednesday shared that there needs to be greater focus on the importance of education and sustainable employment, in order to allow Malta’s tourism industry to grow further in the future.
Earlier this year, a wide array of tourism stakeholders highlighted how the industry is reporting a “very positive” outlook for 2023, with the year getting off to a record-breaking start.
Within this context, Mr Muscat explained that it is “increasingly important” to ensure that Malta has a “sustainable workforce that can support the growth without compromising on quality”. He added that this involves investing in education to equip the workforce with the “necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the industry”.
“At the same time, we need to ensure that we are taking steps to integrate foreign colleagues into our culture and society. This will help to ensure that they are treated fairly and that they are not exploited in any way,” he continued.
Mr Muscat adds that through an emphasis on the importance of education, together with sustainable employment, Malta’s tourism industry will “continue to flourish in the years to come”.
“We owe it to our workforce, and to our visitors to provide a high-quality experience that reflects our unique culture and heritage,” he concluded.
Mr Muscat has served as CEO at OZO Group since 2016, having first joined the family business as a clerk before fulfilling a number of other administrative and leadership positions. The group was founded in 1996, specialising in the outsourcing and services industries. Throughout the years, OZO Group has added various services to its list, including outsourcing personnel to the hospitality, care, manufacturing and security industries, and specialised cleaning services for aircraft and hospitals, among others.
