Andrew Mifsud, Finance Director at The Westin Dragonara Resort, on Thursday brought to the spotlight the concept of sharing as a quality that greatly contributes to having a “cohesive team”.

“While there is no definitive formula for creating unity within a team, there are consistent actions that can significantly enhance the chances of success,” he explained.

However, while the whole team has to contribute towards the journey towards success, he highlighted that the responsibility for implementing these actions lies with the leader, who Mr Mifsud said must “actively participate and establish the appropriate atmosphere from the beginning”.

He identified the concept of sharing as a “crucial quality” that leaders need to instil in their teams.

“Personally, the sharing of knowledge, tasks, responsibilities, goals, and results has proven to be an effective method of bringing people together,” he added.

In order to effectively do this, business leaders have to delegate tasks, clearly outline the organisation’s goals, and also the responsibilities each team member has in working towards that target.

Summarising, Mr Mifsud said that this concept can be encapsulated by the “mnemonic VAT: visibility, accountability, and transparency”.

Mr Mifsud is vastly experienced in the financial sector, having worked in various roles within the area over the past 16 years. He has served as Finance Director at The Westin Dragonara Resort since November 2021, and aside from that, he is also an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) at KPMG Learning Academy Malta.
