On 3rd December, endurance athlete Neil Agius will join forces with strategy expert and business leader Jonathan Shaw to present an event focused on mental strength and resilience titled ‘Redefine Your Limits’.

The event will delve into the psychological techniques that enabled Mr Agius to complete the world’s longest unassisted open-water swim – a formidable journey around the coastline of the Maltese Islands.

Hosted at the University of Malta’s Sir Temi Zammit Hall, the event promises to be both inspiring and practical, offering attendees the chance to learn directly from these accomplished figures.

Doors will open at 5:30pm, with the programme set to begin at 6:00pm. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is recommended to secure the best spots.

Companies are invited to bring their teams to this event, where they can explore tools for fostering a workplace culture centred on transparent communication, stress management, and holistic well-being.

Attendees will not only hear about Mr Agius’s personal journey through a live Q&A session with Mr Shaw, but will also discover techniques such as breathwork and ice baths that can help manage stress and push boundaries in everyday life. The pairing of Mr Agius and Mr Shaw, two powerhouse figures known for their determination and resilience, will undoubtedly create a dynamic energy on stage that is sure to inspire everyone in the audience.

The event will also cover tools that can aid one’s development in the stressful situations of everyday life, fostering enhanced focus, resilient leadership, sustainable habits, and the ability to unlock one’s potential.

A live ice bath demonstration will provide the audience with an up-close experience of the powerful effects this technique can have on resilience and mental clarity.

Whether in sports, the arts, or one’s career, attendees will walk away with transformative strategies that can help break through perceived limits.

This event is perfect for anyone – especially those in leadership or high-pressure roles – looking to build a mental toolkit to handle stress, overcome obstacles, and perform at their peak.

It is the perfect opportunity to reflect on achievements, gain inspiration, and discover strategies for improvement while closing out the year and celebrating all their successes in 2024.

As Mr Agius puts it, ‘In the corporate world, much like in ultra-distance swimming, success isn’t about a single burst of effort. It is about sustaining energy, drive, and commitment over time. By exploring The Ocean Mindset strategies that fuel record-breaking achievements, attendees can gain practical insights into staying focused, resilient, and effective under pressure.’

Neil Agius and Jonathan Shaw

Mr Shaw, a trained performance and cognitive behaviour coach, was part of Mr Agius’s land support team during his recent record-breaking 142-kilometre swim.

He reflects on the experience: ‘Experiencing his journey firsthand made me deeply appreciate the intensity, resilience, and mental strength required for such an achievement. I’m passionate about the transformative power of mindset, both in sports and in professional life, so partnering with Neil to bring this story to a live audience felt like a perfect opportunity to share these invaluable lessons.’

When asked for his top advice for those wanting to push their limits, Mr Agius’s words are simple yet profound: ‘Embrace discomfort as part of the growth process.

“Reaching new heights requires stepping beyond what feels comfortable or even possible. It’s about learning to quiet the mind, focus on the next small step, and trust the process, even when challenges seem insurmountable.’
