Tomorrow, Malta observes the Feast of St Joseph, a public holiday dedicated to the patron saint of workers and families. For many professionals, it’s a welcome mid-week respite from the daily grind, and for BetStarters COO Glenn Debattista, it sparked a nostalgic reflection.

Taking to LinkedIn, Mr Debattista shared a light-hearted memory from his school days. “Being a public holiday on a Wednesday kinda reminded me of when I went to secondary school. Back then, we used to have Wednesdays off and would attend school on Saturdays. Made me wonder how it would be if we actually worked that way – Wednesday and Sunday off, Saturday’s work – but I think most would hate it!” he joked.

As a COO in the dynamic iGaming sector, Mr Debattista is no stranger to balancing operational demands with the need for downtime. While the idea of a mid-week pause may not be practical in today’s fast-moving corporate world, he appreciates the rare opportunity to step back and recharge. “Either way, it’s nice to have a mid-week day off, so thank you, St Joseph!” he quipped, inviting others to share whether they’ll be in work mode or relax mode.

His post highlights a universal theme for business leaders: The challenge of maintaining efficiency while fostering a workplace culture that values rest and reflection. As the nature of work continues to evolve, so too do conversations around how to best structure our time.
