Corinthia Caterers Chief Operating Officer (COO) Edmond Bonett on Sunday shared that witnessing the success of people one has mentored or guided should result in satisfaction and motivation to continue helping others.

“Seeing people you have mentored, helped, pushed, guided or supported along the years or even today succeed in life, should be all about nothing but positive feelings, happiness, satisfaction, feel-good factor and the ultimate motivation to continue doing so, and this is nothing but beautiful,” he explained.

However, he noted that should it project back a certain element of “concern, fear, or make you feel threatened in any shape of form”, then it is a sign that something, somewhere wasn’t or isn’t quite right, and the agenda of one of the involved parties might need to be “revised or double-checked”.

Mentoring and guiding employees is not only a way of investing in them and the business, but it is also a way of investing in oneself. While helping others, business leaders can learn much more about their individual goals and how to go about things as efficiently as possible, as well as fostering relationships with their peers.

“Invest in those around you that are hungry to learn, improve and contribute to the overall success of the job at hand, as it could eventually come back to you in so many different ways,” Mr Bonett continued.

He also remarked that loyalty and commitment to an individual, relationship, agreement or job is not about how long it is, but it is actually about “honouring that particular period of time and giving it nothing less than your 100 per cent”.

Mr Bonett is a seasoned hospitality and catering industry professional, having had a number of experiences at various local and international hotels and restaurants. Earlier this year, he left his position as Group General Manager at Manouche Craft Bakery & Bistro in order to join Corinthia Caterers as COO.
