Izola Bank has announced the appointment of Ali Geren as Head of Finance and Treasury.

Mr Geren brings more than 25 years of international experience in senior executive roles across financial services, including extensive exposure to capital markets, regulatory compliance, and cross-border operations. He is an MFSA-approved CEO, Board Member and Executive Director, with deep expertise in MiFID II regulation, EU licensing frameworks and multi-jurisdictional business leadership.

His background spans both strategic and operational leadership, including P&L management, cost optimisation, technology-led transformation and regulatory liaison with authorities such as the MFSA, ESMA, FIAU and national central banks.

Prior to joining Izola Bank, Mr Geren held a number of senior executive roles within regulated financial institutions. These included serving as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at Trive, as well as Executive Director and CEO at ALB.com. He has also held finance and operations leadership roles, including Finance Director at Global Kapital Group in Türkiye and Director of Back Office at EXANTE’s Malta headquarters.

Throughout his career, Mr Geren has been involved in a wide range of transformation and infrastructure projects, including SWIFT, SEPA and Central Bank of Malta payment system memberships, the establishment of EU branches, capital markets activity such as IPOs and tender offers, as well as ERP system migrations, automation initiatives and the development of reconciliation and reporting tools.

According to the regulatory announcement, Mr Geren has no principal activities outside the bank. His directorships over the past five years include Trive Financial Services Europe Ltd and ALB.
