Izola Bank has appointed Edward Grech as its new Head of Finance and Treasury.

In an announcement on the Malta Stock Exchange, the bank said that the appointment is effective from 14th October, but is subject to regulatory approval.

Mr Grech takes over the role from Ali Geren, who had a brief stint in the position, having taken up the post in January 2026 and resigned in June.

Recently the shareholders of Izola Bank entered into a share purchase agreement with Azure Financial Limited, where subject to regulatory approval the latter will acquire 100 per cent of the bank’s issued share capital. The transaction also contemplates retaining the group’s current owners' involvement in the bank.

Mr Grech has held a number of top posts at local banks and insurance companies over the years, including as Chief Financial Officer and financial controller.
