JA Malta is inviting members of Malta’s business community to volunteer as mentors for its flagship Company Programme, offering Sixth Form students the opportunity to set up and run their own mini-companies.

Through this initiative, students experience the full entrepreneurial journey – from developing an idea and building a team to pitching, running operations, and closing the business at the end of the programme.

“Mentors play a key role in supporting students as they experience the full journey of entrepreneurship, from developing an idea to pitching, running operations, and more,” Matthew Caruana, CEO of JA Malta, said in a LinkedIn post. “You’ll guide, advise, and support,” he added.

Mentors are typically expected to dedicate one to two hours per week between October and May. Each will be assigned to a specific student team to provide ongoing guidance, help refine their business model, and offer insight drawn from real-world experience.

The Company Programme was previously known as Young Enterprise,.

Mr Caruana encourages those interested to set up a call to get more information before they commit to the mentoring.

Other individuals who cannot commit for a whole period from October to May, could consider contacting JA Malta to host a student for a job shadow day in February, which he says is "another opportunity to inspire youth to join their industry and expose them to the future of work."

“By joining us as a mentor, you not only inspire the young generations of entrepreneurs but you also become part of JA's community that is nurturing Malta’s entrepreneurial potential,” he concluded.
