MAPFRE Middlesea plc has officially appointed Javier Moreno as a Director to its Board of Directors, following a regulatory approval from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA).
This follows the company’s earlier announcement in April 2025, which detailed Mr Moreno’s proposed appointment. The MFSA’s approval, effective as of 13th October 2025, formalises Mr Moreno’s role on the board.
Last January, Mr Moreno stepped down from his role as CEO of MAPFRE Middlesea plc to assume a new position within the MAPFRE S.A. Group, the global operating company. Shortly thereafter, he joined the board of Directors of MAPFRE Middlesea, continuing his involvement with the company at a strategic level.
Having a wealth of experience in the global insurance market, with a career at MAPFRE spanning 25 years, Mr Moreno held various executive positions in different management areas.
He has also been responsible for commercial and business development as well as technical and customer service functions through the management of insured benefits. In addition, he has been involved in the development of strategic projects at group level, with implementations in different countries.
In his professional career he has worked with PwC Malta, Hili Logistics Limited, and BMW Malta Finance Limited, among others.
He brings more than 30 years’ experience in the banking sector.
