Leading fintech company Zimpler has appointed Jonathan Hjelmåker as Head of Operations, as part of an increased effort to improve its anti-money laundering (AML) and customer service teams.
Through his appointment, Zimpler aims to continue delivering the “best possible customer experience”, while also positioning itself at the forefront of the fight against financial crime.
“Zimpler is currently in a very exciting phase, and it is great to be part of its journey. We are establishing all the right priorities, and of course, I want to be part of the process to build Europe’s best AML programme,” Mr Hjelmåker explained.
He brings with him a solid track record as management and compliance consultant within the financial industry, along with experience as Manager at Bambora and Ingenico, which is now Worldline.
Over the course of 2022, Zimpler’s AML and customer service teams recruited 17 people and now make up more than 15 per cent of the company’s total number of employees, a figure that Chief Operating Officer Linda Höglund believes shows its commitment to the area.
“AML and compliance are central parts of Zimpler’s business and something we will always invest in. To stay ahead, we must have senior competence that supports and develops the business. Welcoming Mr Hjelmåker to Zimpler gives us just that,” she said.
“With his solid competence and experience, he will be a key player in how we work and deliver to our customers, partners, and legislators,” Ms Höglund added.
In his new role, Mr Hjelmåker will lead the company’s operational work with, among other things, the AML and customer service teams, while also managing cross-functional teams and handle a large part of the operational management for risk and compliance.
“My vision as Head of Operations is to create an efficient and safe operation for our employees, customers, and partners. Compliance and simplicity are prerequisites for the customer to feel satisfied and secure,” he said.
“Therefore, my focus will be on creating an environment where we have strong internal collaboration, put the customer first, and ensure that we have efficient and digitised processes,” Mr Hjelmåker concluded.
Zimpler is a Swedish fintech company that provides “faster, easier, and more secure transactions”, without the need for cards. It has offices in Sweden, Malta, and Brazil, and specialises in account-to-account payments. Its products are currently live in nine countries, and are “rapidly expanding” across Europe and Latin America, with a vision set on the global stage.
